Who Is the #1 Expert in Your Health?

I’ll cut right to the chase.  It is you.

I have struggled with acne for as long as I can remember.  I’ve been to so many doctors and have been on countless medications, internal and topical.  When the topical products literally burned my face, I thought to myself, this doesn’t seem right.  When the Pill made me feel crazy, I thought to myself, this can’t be right.  When the long term antibiotics gave me yeast infections requiring even more prescriptions, I thought to myself, this isn’t right.  When Spironolactone gave me lumpy breasts and a trip to the cancer center for full diagnostic work up, I thought to myself, this is just wrong.

When I brought all these questions up with my doctors, they denied my concerns.  They encouraged me to continue on with the regimens.  So I did.  I ignored that little voice in my head that knew something wasn’t right.  I put all my faith in the medical community.  Why wouldn’t I?  I didn’t go to medical school.  I thought about being a pharmacist- that is until I took my first chemistry class.  Why would I trust that little voice inside my head when the experts were telling me not to?

One night when I was really discouraged, and alone with a computer, I got on Google and my life has never been the same.

Less than 10 minutes after typing in natural cures for acne, I learned that EVERYTHING I had been doing was exascerbating the problem.  Yes, harsh topical products do cause dryness and inflammation creating more skin problems.  Yes, hormone contraceptives, especially the one I was on, can cause emotional problems.  Not only that, they compromise your microbiome, which is ultimately what controls your hormones.  Antibiotics and antifungals severely compromise the gut flora and microbiome.  What happens when your gut flora is out of balance?  You get skin problems like eczema and acne.  Yes, Spironolactone does indeed cause fibrocystic breast disease.  Ugh!!

I cried.  I sobbed.  Tears of frustration and liberation.  I was so upset for not listening to that little voice all those years.  But now I felt freedom.  Freedom from the drugs and the misinformed advice.  Freedom from spending obscene amounts of money on products, drugs and doctor visits that weren’t helping me.  I was in control now.  There was a whole world of information at my fingertips.  I was on a mission.  A mission to research and apply the best natural, alternative and conventional medical information for my unique situation and learn to put it in to practice.

Now I nurture the natural oils in my skin.  I even smear coconut oil all over my face.  I traded in the antibiotics for probiotics.  I said farewell to the pill and most pharmaceutical drugs.  Instead, I take supplements like spirulina, curcumin, and fish oil.

It has been a long journey for me and it is far from over.  I severely abused my body for many years.  Hostess chocolate pies were a staple lunch item in high school.  Combos and Lipton Instant Iced Tea were one of my favorite snacks.  I may have lived off Ramen Noodles and Pop Tarts in college.  I fully participated in the late night bar scene in my 20’s.  I then developed a more mature palate and have been enjoying craft beers and good wines most of my adult life. I was a regular customer at the pharmacy for years.  And to top it all off, I had poor self care, emotional and sleep habits.

But I am on my way back to good health, and I’m bringing as many people as I can with me.

Please do not misunderstand me.  I am NOT suggesting you stop taking any of your medications or stop trusting your doctors!  There is room for so many healing modalities, conventional medicine included.

I am asking you to listen to, and not ignore that inner voice.  It has infinite wisdom.

Does this resonate with you?  Do you faintly hear that little voice and immediately quiet it?  Do you or a family member suffer from a medical condition?  Do you believe there are natural, alternative, holistic and conventional treatments possible but are too scared or overwhelmed and don’t know where to begin?

If so, I invite you to join me for a strategy session.  I am inviting women ready to take their health to the next level to join me for a powerful wake up call.
