  • Apply over heart.
  • Massage several drops with carrier oil into cellulite.
  • Rub 2-4 drops over chest and mid-back to break up congestion.
  • Rub 1-2 drops clockwise over stomach to help reduce gas.
  • Add 2–3 drops as a flavoring in cake and cookie recipes.
  • Diffuse to help manage stress.
  • To energize and uplift mood, place 1–2 drops in the palm of your hand, rub together, and cup over the nose and mouth for 30 seconds or diffuse throughout the room.

    I don’t know much about essential oils, but I love all things citrus. Thanks for the ideas, and especially for the bath salt combo near the end. I do enjoy my soaks!

      Citrus is so uplifting and energizing. Just what we need in our soaks after a long day. I always caution people to be careful when using essential oils in the tub (I don’t discourage it, I do it every night!). Just be careful because some oils sting sensitive people. Mixing them in the bath salts will help to dilute and disperse them, but still be careful 🙂

    What great information! I have tangerine oil but I wasn’t aware of how many uses there were. This gave me useful ways I can incorporate tangerine oil into my daily life. I’m looking forward to making some bath salts.

      Tangerine bath salts- that sounds lovely! Be careful because citrus can be strong and sting sensitive people (I’m speaking from experience). Enjoy that lovely bath 🙂

    Quick and simple question: When you say “apply”, do you mean directly and neat (with no dilutions)? I thought essential oils are too strong to be applied directly to the skin? Also, is this okay to use (on my skin) even when breastfeeding?

      Hi Jade, great questions. To be on the safe side, you should always apply the oils diluted in a carrier oil like fractionated coconut oil. Some oils are very mild and can be applied “neat” (without dilution). Some essential oils will, depending on the company, will have it identified on their label if they can be neat or should be diluted. But when in doubt, always start with dilution and always dilute on small children.

      Congratulations on breastfeeding your baby! Essential oils can be used on your skin when breastfeeding. Of course, you don’t put the oils directly on your breast. I would also avoid putting them on your chest and abdomen right before you breastfeed just because your baby will in such close proximity and you don’t want to overwhelm him or her with any strong scents. But they are safe to use and can even be used to help with breastfeeding issues and feelings of sadness after having a baby.
