10 Skin Care Hacks for a Healthy Glow While Traveling
Are you getting your travel plans ready for Spring Break and summer vacation? We all know how beat up we can feel after traveling! Here are some tips to keep you looking and feeling your best.
It can take quite some time to develop the perfect skincare routine. Just when you think you’ve nailed it, then comes the challenge of picking the necessities for your travel case. TSA guidelines often help keep us in check, but choosing which items to bring can be more difficult than planning outfits! Rest assured there are great, universal tips to keep your glow strong no matter where you roam. Read on for a few favorite skincare travel hacks.
- Travel Prep:
- Increase your intake of omega-3’s a couple of days prior to send off to protect your skin cells from stress and dehydration.
- Salmon, chia seeds, walnuts, or cod liver oil are all great options with over 2,000 mg per serving.
- Avoid harsh, drying treatments. Our skin needs every last bit of moisture, so it’s best to bypass peels and most acids.
- Increase your intake of omega-3’s a couple of days prior to send off to protect your skin cells from stress and dehydration.
- En Route:
- Apply a moisturizer with hyaluronic acid to support hydrated skin.
- Sheet masks/under eye gels are convenient when on the go.
- Invest in a few masks with moisturizing properties and vitamin C for a brightening effect.
- For those who don’t want to devote themselves to a full sheet mask, under eye gels are also a great option. Under eye gels do a great job at plumping fine lines around the eyes and decreasing puffiness.
- Don’t forget your essential oils. Yes, you can take them on a plane. For fun, you can pack them in a cute little carrier case like this. Here are some of my favorite go-to oils I can’t live without:
- Lavender Use for stress reduction, calming and helping little ones sleep on the plane. It is also great for skin rashes, burns, sunburns, and skin irritations.
- Peppermint Use for an invigorating and cooling pick me up. It also helps with tummy troubles and congestion. If you’re feeling hot and bothered on a long trip, rub some peppermint oil on the back of your neck for an instant cooling sensation.
- Lemon Use to freshen up your beverages. Just be sure you’re not adding it to styrofoam or plastic cups. Lemon helps the body get rid of built-up toxins.
- OnGuard Use this to boost your immune system and keep traveling germs at bay. Use to sanitize hands and anything else that is extra germy.
- Pack healthy snacks. You don’t want to be stuck with processed peanuts and pretzels as your only option! Processed foods are loaded with sugar and sodium and wreak havoc on your skin. Pack some fresh fruit and veggies. Some other good options are freeze dried fruits and veggies and organic beef jerky. Don’t forget to pack some dark chocolate to satisfy your sweet tooth.
- Post Travel:
- Cleanse your face to remove dirt and oil, and to help calm down from the day’s stress.
- Apply hydrating mask and massage:
- Apply moisturizer on fingertips and massage the cream in upward, outward circular motions. Follow the natural muscle direction and repeat.
- Lastly, always HYDRATE!
- When flying, pack an empty water bottle and refill it once you pass through security.
- Add Vital Proteins Collagen Beauty Water Stick Packs to your bag.
- The added collagen and hyaluronic acid will help support healthy, hydrated skin.
- Lavender Lemon, Melon Mint, and Cucumber Aloe varieties all contain Marine Collagen, while the Strawberry Lemon flavor contains Collagen Peptides.
- All are Whole30 Approved, Paleo-friendly, no sugar added, dairy-free and gluten-free.
